2016 UNSW ICAS Competitions

Well done to all the student who participated in the 2016 ICAS Competitions. The International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) is an optional & independent, skills-based assessment program which recognises and rewards student achievement. PLAYGROUP

This term we sadly conclude our playgroup program. I wish to take this opportunity to say farewell to the happy-go-lucky Mrs Fusun Gumus, our playgroup facilitator for almost 5 years. Every Friday morning, we saw Mrs Gumus and her mums with toddlers arrive on campus and share the love. We will miss you all.

QURBAN FESTIVAL

On Friday 16th of September, Sirius College East meadows campus will be holding its annual Qurban Festival. Wristbands can be purchased at school. The Qurban Eid Festival features cool rides and activities, cultural dancing, animal petting zoos, and a variety of cultural food options. We hope to see all our Sirius College families join the celebration.

Grade 1 News

Mini beast Incursion

As part of Integrated Studies, the Grade 1's had a mini beast incursion. They had the opportunity to see and hold various mini beasts and thoroughly enjoyed learning about mini beasts.

Olympics & No Pens Day

The Grade 1's participated in a variety of activities for the Olympics and no pens day. The students wrote about what country they come from and what sports they would like to participate in. They also made their own Olympic flame. In addition, they made their own medals from dough and wrote a procedural writing piece. The students were very engaged in all activities.

How to Make Pancakes?

As part of procedural writing this Term, students made their own jelly and pancakes. They were all excited to cook and of course eat it. The students completed the activity by writing their own procedural writing.
